Probationary: The Game of Life on Licence 17-23 September 2018
Join independent London store Luna & Curious to explore the lived experience of being on probation through a unique board game ‘Probationary: The Game of Life on Licence’ during the London Design Festival 2018.
The game was designed and created through a series of workshops with men on license, led by artist Hwa Young Jung. Probationary takes its players on a journey through the eyes of four playable characters as they navigate the complexities of the probation process.
The game will be on display 17-23 September and available to play in booked slots during the weekend 22nd & 23rd September in store. This is a free event, we will be serving refreshments so just bring yourself and a friend or two!

We will be serving beer from Tap Social, a craft brewery which provides training courses for people serving prison sentences, offering courses in brewing and business start-up, and providing one-on-one support in securing permanent employment to assist in effective rehabilitation.
Handmade cushions by prisoners and ex-prisoners by Fine Cell Work will be available to purchase. The charity teach prisoners high-quality needlework which boosts their self-worth, instils self-discipline, fosters hope and encourages them to lead independent, crime-free lives. The charity has recently set up Open the Gate - their post prison programme to support prisoners with reintegration into society upon their release from prison.
Also to purchase during the festival will be coffee beans from Redemption Coffee, a unique roastery in Aylesbury Prison where young offenders are trained in barista and roasting skills and run a café for the prison community and visitors. By training the prisoners in professional roasting and competition-level barista skills, they are successfully reintegrated into society. On their release, ex-offenders are also assisted in finding work using coffee industry contacts.
